Abistro
Chef Abdoul Gueye, who owns this restaurant with his wife, Cassandra, has been serving up West African–fusion cuisine with French-style heavy sauces at this small neighborhood bistro since 2005. Gueye, a Senegal native, is well-known for his distinctive burgers and “Senegalese fried chicken,” according to manager Nucomme.
“People name their children after [the fried chicken],” declared Nucomme, describing it as “a breast that is pan-seared, served with sauteed vegetables of the day, yummy jasmine rice cake — made with fresh coconut milk, pineapple and a hint of nutmeg — and topped with Dijonnaise sauce and Senegalese salsa.”
Hours: Dinner, Wednesday through Sunday; brunch, weekends noon–3:30 pm. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
