Every single day there’s new news of the presidential candidates. Obama appears much more often and longer than John McCain. Got to admit that Barack Hussein Obama is the darling of the news media. While McCain whom I personally favor, as mentioned in a previous column, does not have the charisma of Obama, at this moment I don’t think anyone has, maybe with the exception of Regis Philbin. I like Regis.
And with all the facts, charges, innuendos, smears and history coming on the screen and our papers, I realize that I now know more about Barack Hussein Obama than I do of Carmine Santa Maria…my grandfather, whom I was named after. Obama graduated Harvard, I don’t even know if my paternal grandfather was literate and the same goes for Grandpa Giuseppe Costantino. I have never seen a photo of either of my grandfathers, nor of my grandmothers. Isn’t that sad?
Yet I know that Obama has a half brother living in a shack somewhere in Africa living on less than a dollar a day. Wow, if Obama gets elected and doesn’t draft his half brother as his Secretary of the Treasury, he’s missing a golden opportunity. Poor McCain doesn’t know off hand how many houses he and his wife own. If McCain gets elected, he should consider his wife to be the Secretary of the Treasury or the Interior, at least she knows how much her staff costs to maintain them. Besides she is a beautiful wealthy woman who knows how to make beer. Who could ask for anything more?
I know that one of Obama’s grandmothers is white and a racist, at least according to Barack. I know his mother is white and twice married and that he spent a very short time with his real father, and was raised by his Mom and her second husband, who was also a Muslim. I must confess I don’t know too much about McCain’s personal history except he was a Prisoner of War and a war hero and spent a great deal of time in the US Senate.
If age and experience is to be factored into your vote, then McCain has it all over Obama. However if its charm and an ability to speak exceptionally well, well enough to mesmerize any audience, except maybe the Klu Klux Klan, than you gotta vote for the junior Senator from Illinois.
By the time this column gets published John McCain will have picked his choice for his Vice President. Obama has already chosen Joe Biden to balance off his rather short experience in the Senate. Of course if McCain picks Hillary Clinton as his Vice President then expect total chaos. Hillary has already given McCain enough ammunition to sink Obama with the ads she used in running against him during the Primary.
For the next 70 days you will be deluged with political commercials. So much so that the barrage of Anti-McCain and Anti-Obama will stun you into shell shock. Those of you, who have Internet capabilities can log onto www.YouTube.com and see, hear, believe or disbelieve the charges against the candidates. One that is particularly disturbing to me is the one with convicted Weatherman Bill Ayers, whose friendship with Obama has yet to be disputed. Bill Ayers was arrested for bombing the Capitol thirty years ago and like the radical Reverend Wright, Obama has not refuted their friendship.
Obama being the accomplished speaker he is, took the criticism without a blink, as a matter of fact I have yet to see Obama get upset with any question ever put at him. He is an amazing speaker with a tremendous personality. I only hope that if he is elected President, that those qualities are enough to reverse our negative economy and keep us at peace. Whether you like Obama or McCain, it is essential that you vote…or don’t complain later!
Screech at you next week
