Young Dancers in Repertory will be holding auditions for the YDR Teenage Touring Ensemble and Scholarships, September 13. The ensemble takes part in 30 to 40 performances each year throughout Brooklyn and the Greater New York City area.
Recent performances this past month included programs in Sunset Park and Bay Ridge. Dancers learn from a wide repertoire of dances including ballet, multicultural dances, contemporary and historical modern dance.
Auditions will be held at 2 p.m. (touring and scholarship) for ages 7-10 and at 2:30 p.m. (touring and scholarships) for ages 11 & up at the Salem Church, 345 Ovington Avenue in Bay Ridge.
Serious dancers, ages nine to 17, with an interest in learning new skills and performing in a variety of dance venues should call Young Dancers at 347-702-7155. Those auditioning will take a short dance class, learn and perform dance phrases from company repertoire and are asked to prepare a one-minute dance (any style) of their own.
Young Dancers in Repertory conducts community classes September through June as part of YDR’s Center for Dance Studies. The YDR Teenage Touring Ensemble performs throughout the year. Other YDR programs include Art-in-Education Programs in NYC Public Schools throughout the school year as well as after school programming.
