A garden grows in memory of Principal Michael Carr at Public School 52.
The beloved headmaster, who passed away two years ago, was bestowed the posthumous honor during a dedication of the Michael J. Carr Children’s Garden at the school, 2675 East 29th Street.
Members of Mr. Carr’s family attended the sweet tribute, which featured a student violin concert and speeches in memory of the “kind and compassionate” administrator, who served the school from 1996 to 2001, and who is now immortalized at the grassy area on the school grounds, off Voorhies Avenue.
“His passion was the children; he just loved them and they loved him,” recalls Parent Coordinator Barbara Warner.
