Scott Dorante did everything he could to keep Midwood from being upset by John Adams. He carried the ball 10 times for 62 yards and two touchdowns, made six tackles and returned a fumble for a touchdown to help give No. 3 Midwood a 34-32 win against No. 6 Adams in the opening round of the PSAL Bowl division playoffs Sunday.
Collin Hannay rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown down on 11 carries and completed 4-of-8 passes for 84 yards for Midwood (5-5). He also added seven tackles. Donovan Edwards ran for 84 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. Midwood hosts No. 4 Brooklyn Tech at noon next Sunday in the semifinals. John Adams is 4-6.
Brooklyn Tech 36, Long Island City 34: No. 4 Brooklyn Tech (4-6) scored 22 fourth-quarter points to send the game to overtime. There it outscored No. 5 Long Island City (5-5), 14-12.
Erasmus Hall 45, Truman 0: Kristen Liverpool rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries for No. 1 Erasmus Hall (6-4). Jauvan John ran an interception back for a touchdown. Corey Johnson ran for 53 yards on four carries and Hector Sanabria carried the ball four times for 50 yards. Adam Pagan added nine tackles. Erasmus Halls hosts No. 2 New Dorp in the semifinals noon Sunday. No. 8 Truman is 4-6.
Automotive 42, Lafayette 0: Reco Speede completed 4 of 7 passes for 54 yards and a 24-yard touchdown pass to Tevin Bollers and rushed for 100 yards on six carries for Automotive (6-3). Jeremy Hernandez, 88 yards and a touchdown on four carries, led nine players who rushed for 471 yards and four touchdowns. He also made seven tackles. Warren Ely made 11 tackles including five sacks. Lafayette is 0-9.
