Father Michael Gelfant led the community in a solemn Palm Sunday procession as St. Anselm RC Church began its celebrations of Holy Week.
On Holy Thursday, Monsignor Michael Phillips was the main celebrant of the Mass, which re−enacts Jesus’ washing of the feet of his apostles, symbolically represented by parishioners.
The evening ended with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until midnight at the church, 357 83rd Street. Holy Thursday is also the day in which Catholic priests celebrate and renew their promises of their ordination.
