The civic−minded were delivered a gracious salute when the East 34th Street Block Association held a benefit scholarship garden party in Flatbush.
Honorees were feted with glowing words and awards of appreciation for their block advocacy efforts during the fifth annual community tribute at June’s Garden, 3402 Farragut Road.
Honorees included the John’s family, “Most Improved Home”; Nandi John, “Community Service”; Angie Vega, who was lauded for her “hard work”; and Mary McCarthy, recipient of a “Green−thumb” award for her beautification efforts.
The 2009 scholarship winners were: Nandi John, Justin and Jonathan Persaud, Natalie D’Larocke, Vanessa Moore, Treshawwna Knight and Christena Barton.
