Mom, dad and the kids embraced the soaring mercury during a day of fun in the sun %u2013 that lasted till the wee hours %u2013 as they celebrated neighborhood unity with a block party along East 38th Street in Marine Park.
Festivities transformed the area Avenues U and T into an outdoor spectacle of seasonal sights, sounds and smells as frolickers rose to the annual occasion with a program of special attractions and amusements.
While grown-ups pooled their culinary talents and grilled up delights on the barbecue, youngsters enjoyed their own homespun brand of simple pleasures on the block cordoned off for the occasion.
