The Bay Ridge United Church, 636 Bay Ridge Parkway between Sixth & Seventh avenues, will celebrate the wonders of nature with a service, which includes a blessing of the animals, October 4 at 11 a.m.
During the service worshipers may bring their live animal in a carrier, a picture of their live pet for blessing, or a picture of deceased pets for a memorial prayer. Stuffed animals are also welcome for blessing.
Animals without carriers will be blessed in front of the church from 12-1 p.m. This occasion honors Francis of Assisi, a lover of animals and the environment. All pets and their caretakers of whatever denomination are welcome.
