Lutheran HealthCare’s Augustana Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation was presented with a $5,000 year-end donation from the Fort Hamilton Presbyterian Church.
Representing the Fort Hamilton Presbyterian Church, 367 94th Street, Dilia Schack presented the check on behalf of Bob Buonvino and Theresa Gentile who were cared for at Augustana earlier this year. Buonvino was a Boy Scout leader in Bensonhurst and civic activist and Community Board member in Bay Ridge. Gentile was mother to Councilman Gentile and Diane Castignani, who were also present.
David Rose, executive director of Augustana, accepted the donation as well as praise for both the center, 5434 Second Avenue, and his staff from Schack, Gentile and Castignani. Nursing care coordinator, Delmy Mejia, RN, who supervised care for relatives and friends of both Schack and Gentile, was also present.
The church, which just closed its doors, has contribute funds to a total of 33 Brooklyn community organizations.
