An old-school Brighton Beach Avenue barbershop is moving down the block, and it’s taking all of its charm with it!

Jack’s Barber Shop is moving from its familiar location between Brighton 13th and 14th streets, to new digs a block away, and 68-year-old owner Jack Skolnick, who’s been in the business for more than 50 years, says he’s taking his vintage leather barber chairs along for the ride.

“They don’t make them like this anymore,” Skolnick said, whose comfy black seats date back to when he opened the place in 1966, and have cushioned famous tushes like that of “Black Swan” director Darren Aronofsky.

Skolnick will also bring his 40-plus-year-old candy-striped barbershop pole to the new space.

“Of course it’s coming to the new store!” exclaimed Skolnick. “This is the sign of a classic barbershop.”

And classic barbershop equals local hangout, so regulars are thrilled that the new Jack’s won’t be much different from the old.”

“This barbershop has been a neighborhood favorite for years,” said Brighton Beach Neighborhood Association founder Pat Singer. “So many people hang out there.”

Barbershops of nostalgia are hard to find these days, as fancy salons and chains like Supercuts have become the norm. Even the 34-year-old Mr. Figaro Unisex Hairstyling, once known for its kitschy memorabilia, opted for a modern makeover late last year.

But Jack’s Barber Shop regulars are ecstatic that they’ll still be able to get their hair trimmed and hot-towel shaves the old-fashioned way — and not have to deal with loud music and fancy stylings that can cost over 100 bucks.

“My kids and I have been getting our hair cut there for years!” said Manhattan Beach resident Ed Eisenberg. “Jack’s a great guy and he gives great hair cuts.”
