Williamsburg never tasted so good!
Hungry Brooklynites scoured the tables at the second annual Taste of Williamsburg Greenpoint on Sunday, where more than 40 of the neighborhood’s best restaurants and breweries offered delectable bite-sized samples.
The dining event is meant as a fundraiser for Neighbors Allied for Good Growth, but has become a showcase for the area’s burgeoning food scene.
And there was a lot to get excited about.
Foodies ravenously devoured Dressler’s gazpacho with rock shrimp, lamb sliders from Teddy’s, oysters from Maison Premiere, homemade beef jerky from Nitehawk Cinema, scoops of Van Leeuwen ice cream, and everything that 10R8 Sushi rolled up.
In addition to the bits of food and sips of booze, performance artist Carrie Ahern butchered a dead pig at the end of N. 11th Street, and gave away parts to the delightedly non-kosher crowd.
By the end of the day, Williamsburg resident Greg Zwahlen was stuffed.
“Maison Premiere kept dishing out oysters and absinthe — which was pretty great,” said Zwahlen.
