A man’s body was found under a heap of burning garbage on Hendrickson Street this morning.
The NYPD says the victim, a white male who had not been identified by 10 am, was found “inside” a pile of rubbish set ablaze on the side of the Furniture Zone on Flatbush Avenue at 3:43 am.
Firefighters quickly brought the rubbish fire under control — uncovering the victim’s remains in the process, an FDNY official said.
Investigators hadn’t determined how the man died by Thursday morning. An autopsy was being scheduled later today.
Yet nearby residents told the New York Daily News that the victim may have been homeless.
“A lot of homeless people hang around back there,” one man told the Manhattan paper. “It was probably one of them.”
