Cycle clash

A 40-year-old motorist beat a lady cyclist with a metal rod on May 21 after a near collision on Snyder Avenue and Kings Highway.

Police said that the two nearly impacted at 10:15 pm when suspect Orlando Leach opened his car door, forcing the cyclist to swerve out of the way.

When the two began arguing, the cyclist picked up a metal rod and threw it at Leach, shattering the man’s windshield.

Outraged, Leach grabbed the rod and charged the woman.

He reportedly chased her down and struck her in the head with the metal rod repeatedly, leaving her hospitalized with a shattered jawbone and eye socket before running off.

Cops caught up with Leach after a brief investigation, charging him with assault in the first degree, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon on May 26.
