Family matters

Two young men were arrested on July 14 for robbing their own relatives at gunpoint.

Police said the suspects, two brothers ages 20 and 24, sported masks as they and a female accomplice banged on the door to their relatives’ apartment, which is at the corner of Ocean and Newkirk avenues, on July 6, threatening to shoot up the address if they weren’t let in.

The three frightened children inside did what they were told. The thieves were in the process of looting the home when their aunt returned. They made a hasty escape when the woman recognized them.

Cops caught up with the two brothers 10 days later, charging them with robbery. Their female accomplice was still at large.
