Meter raider

A parking meter purloiner was busted by police on Graham Avenue on Feb. 7.

Cops said that they were on patrol just before 2 am when they saw a 42-year-old man fidgeting with a parking meter near Varet Street.

Officers said that when they approached, they saw that the man was sticking metal wires into the meters in an attempt to loot them of their quarters.

The suspect was fairly successful, too, according to police: he allegedly had about $10 in quarters on him when he was taken into custody, charged with possession of burglar’s tools, criminal tampering, petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
