Pay to work

Some fraudulent employer tricked a woman into sending him money using a Craigslist ad on Feb. 11.

The victim told police that she posted an ad from her home on Richardson Street, looking for a personal assistant job. The Williamsburg scammer contacted her and said he’d hire her in March if she cashed his check for $2,888 and then send the money back. She obliged, and the man made off with the cash.

The check, of course, was a fake.
