Driveway devils

Just because your car’s sitting pretty in your personal car port doesn’t mean it’s suddenly become theft-proof.

A local resident learned this the hard way last week as brazen thieves rooted through his vehicle, taking two pricey musical instruments.

His car was unlocked at the time, the car owner admitted.

A 48-year-old told police that someone entered his 2008 Toyota Highlander on March 28 as it sat outside his home on 11th Avenue between 73rd and 74th streets sometime after 8 pm.

The Dyker Heights resident was obviously singing the blues, but he didn’t have any instruments on which to play his sad song — his $1,200 trumpet and a $500 saxophone were stolen, he said.
