Sharp response

A knife-wielding thief was scrambling for an escape route April 17 when he chose to rob the wrong person.

That person, 47, told police that he was nearing the corner of Avenue J and Ralph Avenue at 2 am when the unidentified male grabbed him and put him in a headlock.

The man then pulled a knife — but in the end the victim was the one who got the upper hand.

Police said that the victim managed to break free of the headlock and fight off the mugger until he gave up and ran off.

Cops were still looking for the thief as this paper went to press.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the 63rd Precinct at (718) 258-4411. All calls will be kept confidential.
