Hardhat hooligan

Cops are looking for a home-wrecking construction worker who sneaked into a Homecrest home and held up a 24-year-old tenant on April 12.

The victim said that he was getting ready for work inside his basement apartment on East 28th Street between avenues S and T at 1:20 pm when he heard the thief forcing open the rear door.

When he opened his door to investigate, he came face to face with the oddly dressed thief, who sported an orange vest, a white hardhat and a pair of sunglasses.

Rounding out the ensemble was the pistol he had in his hand, cops were told.

“Don’t move,” the thief said. The victim did anything but.

Instead, he ran out the door, dialing 911 as he escaped to the backyard.

Cops said the thief exited the home a few minutes later, waved his gun around at the victim and a handful of other witnesses and ran off.

Responding officers followed the thief, but lost him during a search of neighboring backyards.

Police said that the hard-hat hooligan managed to ransack several bedrooms in the home, but nothing of value was taken.

Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call the 61st Precinct at (718) 627-6611. All calls will be kept confidential.
