Since 1948, the Zerilli family has been crafting and baking authentic Italian pastries and cookies that inspire loyalty — even amongst patrons who have moved out-of-state. “I won’t buy cookies anywhere else!” says Juliet Labbozzetta, who travels to Cobble Hill from New Jersey to buy Zerilli sweets by the box. “I have to ship boxes of cookies to my brother — he lives in Florida!” Signature pastries include the chocolate cannoli and lobster tail, a giant pastry born out of the traditional ricotta-filled “sfogliatella,” this time filled with whipped and Bavarian creams. The lobster tails are only made on weekends, as are the traditional “grain pies,” an eight-inch cheese-filled wheat cake. Apple pie is baked fresh daily. Open Monday through Saturday, from 8 am to 8:30 pm, and on Sundays, from 8 am to 7:30 pm.
