Naidre Miller has created a cozy vegan and vegetarian-friendly cafe nestled on the south end of Park Slope’s Seventh Avenue. They have been open for 12 Years, and have a little something for everything. The cheerful staff serves up locally roasted coffees, fresh bagels, homemade pastries and muffins, and sweets such as chocolate-covered pretzels sprinkled with Snickers pieces. Eclectic menu items include organic oatmeal and their own granola. Breakfast specials, such as the whole-wheat breakfast burrito are also offered. For lunch, try a soup, salad or one of 20 varieties of sandwiches, such as the roasted veggie sandwich or the “Seventh Avenue”: chicken, avocado and cucumber with balsamic dressing. Heartier fare includes their hot steak sandwich, spicy chicken, tuna melt or the “Farmer John,” a hot pressed panini with turkey, cheddar, apples and honey mustard. For an afternoon pick-me-up, try a fresh fruit smoothie — “real fruit, and no nasty fillers!” said Miller. Going to a concert in the park? Naidre’s will pack you a picnic basket for only $12, with any sandwich (except panini), a side salad, a cookie and a drink, all tucked into a portable paper carrier. No glass, so no problem! Breakfast, lunch and dinner served daily at both locations.
