Lively and funky crowds pepper the laid-back atmosphere of this pre-show place-to-be. Great Performances, the city’s largest catering company, recently took over operations. Executive chef Carlos Baca’s menu changes depending on the season. In the winter, it offers dishes such as wild mushroom and caramelized leek risotto with braised greens and fig essence; pan seared salmon filet with roasted fingerling potatoes and haricot verts and a lemon buerre blanc. An entree special is served daily. BAMcafe also offers live music on Friday and Saturday nights. (On those evenings, the menu is restricted to bar food such as mezze platters, sandwiches and grilled flatbread pizzas) Open for dinner Thursday-Saturday, from 5 pm; also open two hours prior to performances in the BAM Opera House or BAM Harvey Theater.
