Hibino

Hibino, which opened its doors in March 2007, takes Japanese comfort food to a new level. Manager Hinata Sato said customers flock to chefs Masaru Sukuda and Hirohisa Hayashi’s salmon miso “zuke,” broiled salmon in a miso sauce, and an array of Kyoto-style “obanzai” (Japanese tapas). To get into the real spirit of Kyoto, Sato also recommended the “oshi sushi” (pressed sushi) with salmon, “kanpyo” (dried gourd shavings), and “shiso” (Japanese mint). Open for lunch Monday-Friday, 12:00 pm-2:30 pm; for dinner Monday-Thursday, 5:30 pm-10:00 pm; Friday-Saturday, 5:30 pm-10:30 pm.
