The Sunset Park Business Improvement District will host its a four−block Summer Plaza, rain or shine, as part of the New York City Department of Transportation’s Summer Streets program, August 2 from 12−4 p.m.
The Summer Plaza will be along Fifth Avenue, which will be closed to vehicular traffic from 48th to 52nd street. Cross streets will remain open.
Sunset Park BID businesses will have bargains and displays on the sidewalks while pedestrians strolling through the streets, browse, meet friends and relax.
The BID has planned programs throughout the day, featuring free face painting and balloons, mask and flower making, dancing with Tropical Image Dancers, musical entertainment by Max Reiser, lanyard making, and chalk drawing on the street.
While there will be some chairs and tables available, residents are encouraged to bring their own chairs if they so desire. Local organizations will be distributing literature and information about their services between 50th and 51st streets.
