Calling all Brooklyn retailers to participate in this year’s “Fashion Night Out,” a citywide effort to promote retail, boost consumer confidence and celebrate fashion.

On the first night of Fashion Week, September 10, participating retailers will keep their doors open until 11 p.m. and offer consumers a variety of in-store promotions, entertainment, fashion shows, designer appearances and other festivities.

The event is sponsored by Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America and NYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing and tourism organization. More than 300 retailers have already signed on to participate.

Every fashion retailer across the five boroughs — flagships, tiny boutiques, massive department stores, young designers, mainstream chains, and niche luxury names alike — is encouraged to keep its doors open late on the evening of September 10 and take part in “Fashion Night Out.”

Fashion is the second largest sector of industry in New York City — the city is the headquarters of more than 800 fashion companies employing 175,000 people and generating $10 billion in total wages.

In addition to supporting local retailers, Fashion’s Night Out will benefit important New York City causes. A special limited-edition t-shirt has been created for Fashion’s Night Out andproceeds from its sale will support the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.

Also, shoppers will be encouraged to donate gently used or newly purchased clothes at participating stores or at specifically designated drop-off locations in all five boroughs. Clothes will then be collected by the New York City AIDS Fund to benefit HIV/AIDS organizations across the city.
