Accused child killer Levi Aron will stand trial in Brooklyn despite his lawyers’ pleas to move the proceedings to Suffolk County or the Bronx, a court ruled on Tuesday.

Lawyers for the Kensington man accused this summer of kidnapping, killing and carving up 8-year-old Hasidic Leiby Kletzky of Borough Park, asked for the change of venue, arguing that media coverage in Brooklyn — fed, he said, by propaganda provided by District Attorney Charles Hynes and the police department — had caused too much bias among prospective jurors.

“The DA’s office and the police have fallen all over themselves to poison the public’s mind against the defendant,” said Howard Greenberg, one of Aron’s lawyers. “I wanted to try this case in Brooklyn in front of 12 fiercely independent jurors.”

Aron’s lawyers say that the former plumbing supply clerk is crazy and that cops forced him to write his hand-scrawled confession shortly after his arrest in July.

Aron will appear in court on Dec. 21 for pretrial motions, but the opening arguments will not start until early next year.

Hanna K. from Oak Park, MI says:
Howard Greenberg alledges that little Leiby Kletzky was murdered by an insane man. That this case is a simple case of "not guilty by reason of insanity". The fact that the defendent took him across state lines, attended a wedding during that time while the child was with him (but not in sight) and left him at his residence tied up while he went to work , then medicated and smothered him is not indicative of insanity. He is a murderer, plain and simple and knew what he was doing. He methodically disposed of the body by carving it up so as not to be noticeable in a little suitcase, dumping it in a trash bin further from the home hoping the dumpster would be emptied quickly. Oh, and of course, saving the feet in the freezer sounds like the act of an insane man. However , let's not forget that when asked about it, the defendent said that he forgot about the feet.
Mr. Greenberg and Ms. McCann, you are pulling at straws because the facts of the crime are known and you don't have a leg to stand on. This murderer knew exactly what he was doing and so do you. Stop trying to whitewash this.
