Grocery throw down

Police arrested a man who tossed a grocery store and punched a clerk on Stillwell Avenue on March 29.

The clerk told police that the man entered the store between Bay 50th Street and Harway Avenue at 10 am and began throwing groceries. The man grabbed a box of candy and when the clerk tried to wrestle it from him, punched him in the left eye, officials said.

The frantic clerk called police, who arrested the man at the scene, according to a police report.

Big score

An opportunist stole into a man’s 28th Avenue apartment while he was out at a bachelor party and made off with more than $100,000 in high-end jewelry on April 2.

The man told police that after a night of revelry he returned to his home between Harway and Cropsey avenues at 2 am and discovered that his kitchen window was broken. He discovered that five gold and diamond watches had been swiped, according to a police report.

While you were sleeping

A thief pilfered a man’s car of power tools on W. Third Street on March 31.

The owner of the car told police he was sleeping nearby in his home between W. Second Place and W. Brighton Avenue at 8 am when the man broke the rear window of his roadster and crept inside.

The goon made off with an assortment of tools, including an electric saw, power drill set, and a grounder, according to a police report.

Without a trace

A thief stole into a woman’s Ocean Parkway apartment and made off with nearly $10,000 in jewelry on April 1.

The woman told police that she was getting ready in her bedroom of her apartment near Neptune Avenue for a night on the town at 11 pm when she noticed her jewelry boxes were open and emptied.

There were no signs of forced entry or traces of the burglar, said police. But the bandit managed to steal an assortment of watches, rings, and earrings, according to a police report
