This week we’ll put on our blue suede shoes and take a weekend walk!

Start your weekend early this Friday with a delightful dairy stop at the Owl’s Head Wine Bar (479 74th St. between Fourth and Fifth avenues) — its “cheesy hour” from 3–5 pm will score you a special wedge of cheese with each glass of wine you order.

Once you’ve filled up on curds and wine, step outside to join the Fifth Avenue Weekend Walk (Fifth Avenue between 73rd and 84th streets). The thoroughfare will be closed to cars from 5 pm to 10 pm, with dining the street, entertainment for kids, and live music. We advise walking down to Schnitzel Haus (7319 Fifth Ave. between 73rd and 74th streets) at to catch Elvis impersonator Lamar Peters, performing outside the bierhalle at 8 pm to honor the 40th anniversary of the King’s passing.

And on Sunday afternoon at Brooklyn Firefly (7003 Third Ave. at Ovington Avenue), crooner Martin McQuade will also pay tribute to Elvis, and to the almost 59 years since Pvt. Elvis Aaron Presley passed through the Brooklyn Army Terminal on his way to Germany. McQuade and piano player Jesse Gelber will perform a suite of songs recorded by the King during and immediately after his military service. The show starts at 1 pm.

And the music does not stop with the weekend! On Tuesday night, cruise over to Shore Road Park (Shore Road and 79th Street) for Irish Night — an early celebration of the Emerald Isle with the Canny Brothers band and the Clann Eireann Irish Pipe Band, starting at 7 pm.
