60th Precinct

Gone fishing

A thief stole $2,200 worth of fishing equipment — including fishing rods, oars, and life preservers — from a Kaiser Park recreation center on Neptune Avenue sometime between Aug. 25 and Oct. 12, police said.

The perp climbed through a rear window between W. 28th and W .29th streets and stole the items at some point between 10:30 am on the August date and 10 am on Oct. 12.

A glass course

Police arrested a man who stole two cellphones from another man on a Q train on Oct. 14.

The men boarded the same train at Brighton Beach Avenue and Brighton Sixth Street at 3 am, according to the report, and the man who stole the phones spotted the other man through the train car window. The man stared down the man in possession of the phones until he moved to the same car and stole the phones from the man’s two front vest pockets. He then fled, but police caught up with him and arrested him at Brighton Fourth Street between Brighton Beach Avenue and Brightwater Court around 12:45 pm.

What a tool

A crook stole nearly $6,500 worth of tools from a car parked on W. 36 Street at some point between Oct. 11 and 12.

The owner of the car left the vehicle between Neptune and Mermaid avenues around 3:30 pm on Oct. 11, and when they returned the next day around 7 am, they noticed the side handle of the passenger side door was broken and the tools gone.

Phone a friend

A perp stole an iPhone 6 and its accompanying headphones from a Coney Islander who was walking home from school on Ocean Parkway on Oct. 13.

The no-goodnik approached the iPhone owner between Mitchell Wesson Place and Neptune Avenue around noon and demanded that he let him use his phone. When he refused, the miscreant pushed him in the chest and said that if he didn’t hand it over, he would kill him. He then grabbed the phone and fled on foot. Police are reviewing cameras in the area, according to the report.
