Phantom withdrawals

A sneak made a series of coordinated automated teller machine thefts within the 63rd precinct last week, claiming the funds of several debit-card holders:

• The nogoodnik stole money from an E. 35th Street woman on March 3.

The woman, who lives near Avenue U, reported to cops on March 11 that someone withdrew $983 from her account, even though she still has her debit card, according to the report.

• The bandit withdrew funds from an E. 59th Street man’s account on March 4.

Police say the man, who lives near Avenue U, noticed two days later that someone made two different withdrawals from his account, totalling $986. Cops say he is also still in possession of his debit card.

• The thief hit another E. 59th Street resident’s account three different times between March 3 and March 6.

The victim, who lives near Avenue J, told authorities that someone pocketed $1,480 of her money via cash dispensers between those dates.

• The scammer then stole $1,002 from a Bergen Avenue woman on March 4.

The victim, who lives near Avenue M, told cops that a sneak made two withdrawals from her bank account around 9 pm, according to the report.

Stop and shopped

A prowler stole two designer sunglasses from a car parked on Mayfair Drive South sometime overnight on March 5.

The owner told police that he left his vehicle parked near Basset Avenue that night, and the next day noticed that his pricey shades were missing.

Cops say the man reviewed his surveillance system and found a bandit leaving a white vehicle around 1:52 am, entering his car, and taking off with the items, according to the report.

Busted for theft

Cops arrested a 24-year-old woman who they say stole from an Avenue U department store on March 6.

Police say the suspect entered the store near E. 54th Street around 8:30 pm and placed a fragrance gift set in her bag without paying. Cops caught up with her at the scene two hours later.

Broken window

A bandit broke into a car parked on Avenue L sometime overnight on March 6.

The victim says he left his ride near E. 49th Street around 11 pm and returned the next day to discover that his driver’s side window was broken into and his wallet — containing his debit and credit cards, driver’s license, and taxi license — were all missing.

Police say his credit card was used to purchase gas and pay for a parking meter, according to the report.
