The woman allegedly grabbed the unattended bag, which was sitting on a freezer case, at around 5:55 pm from the store at W. Fifth Street before fleeing in an unknown direction. The store’s cameras captured the woman leaving the supermarket, according to police.

The woman is between 45- and 55-years-old, 5-foot-7, approximately 180 pounds, with a heavy build, and has blonde hair, police said. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, black shirt, blue jeans and brown shoes.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577–8477, or for Spanish, (888) 577-4782. The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
