Put the purse in the trash

Police arrested a man who they say stole $3,300 from a woman’s purse in a Cropsey Avenue restaurant on May 12.

The woman told police she left her bag in the bathroom of the restaurant at Bay 41st Street just after 10:30 pm, before she saw the man enter it after her. When she she realized she had left her bag there and went back in to retrieve it, she found it empty in the garbage, cops reported.

Smack down

Cops cuffed a man for allegedly stealing a woman’s phone on W. Third Street on May 9 — before throwing it on the ground and smacking her in the face, police said.

The victim was chasing the man between Avenues O and P at around 10:30 am after he stole her phone, at which point he threw it and smacked her in the face, authorities reported. The man then fled on foot on W. Third Street towards Avenue P, according to the report.

Dodged arrest

A lowlife stole a 2017 white Dodge from its W. Seventh Street parking spot on May 9.

The car was parked between Bay Parkway and Avenue O, and the theft occurred around 5 pm, according to the report. The owner of the car told police that he had left his keys in the car.

Window of theft

A good-for-nothing broke the window of a man’s car parked on Avenue O on May 10 and stole $400 and credit and debit cards from inside.

The car was parked at W. Fifth Street, and the theft occurred around 10 pm, according to the report.

Pocket of opportunity

A pilferer stole $720 out of a woman’s pocket while she was shopping at an 86th Street store on May 11.

The theft occurred inside the store between Bay 31st and Bay 32nd streets at around 7:20 pm, and the thief fled on foot on 86th Street after, towards Bay Parkway, cops said.

Computer geek

A punk stole a package containing a laptop from a 64th Street doorstep on May 11.

The bandit stole the computer from the home between 20th and 21st avenues just after 5 pm.

Swing and a miss

Police arrested a man who they say swung an umbrella at another man’s head with the intent to cause injury — even though he never actually hit him — on 23rd Avenue on May 12.

The suspect started swinging at the man near 86th Street just before 9 pm, according to police.

Big haul

A robber broke into a 16th Avenue home and stole jewelry and $40,000 on May 12.

The theft occurred at the home between 68th Street and Bay Ridge Avenue at around 9:30 am, cops reported. Police said the perp fled in an unknown direction, and that there were no signs of forced entry.
